Take-back system

Take-back and separate collection differ according to the way in which electrical and electronic appliances are used – either for household and similar use or for industrial use. The main reason for this different approach is the manner of financing.

Take-back

The core units in the system of handling the take-back of electrical and electronic equipment are take-back points created on the basis of contractual cooperation with cities, towns and villages. The start of creating this network was influenced on the one hand by the date on which a company was entered in the Register of Producers kept at the Ministry of the Environment and on the other hand by the process of negotiating contracts in cities, towns and villages. Actual implementation got underway in March 2006.

Another important link in the network of take-back points created is the end dealer, who is obligated by law to take electrical and electronic equipment “unit by unit” in the sale of new appliances.We offer registered end dealers the option of taking electrical and electronic equipment to a take-back point free-of-charge or the collection of appliances from the sales outlet itself.

Another method, and the usual option for the consumer, is the collection of electrical and electronic waste by mobile collection. For this reason we offered cities, towns and villages that did not have collection yards the chance to register through their collection companies, which carry out mobile collection.

The following logistic categories have been determined with the aim of ensuring that electrical and electronic equipment is collected according to its onward processing and with regard to the collection capacity:

-         refrigeration;

-         large appliances;

-         small appliances;

-         medium-sized appliances (only for end dealers).

Separate collection

One place in every region is determined for separate collection at which it is possible to leave industrial electrical and electronic waste free-of-charge based on presenting a coupon received when buying new electrical and electronic equipment of the same type and function.
